A common problem I hear couples say they have all the time is, "I don't know what my style is for the wedding?'
A wedding style starts with making the day all about the both of you. It's so easy to look at other weddings, and want yours to look the same but better! We are all guilty of looking at the latest real wedding on Pinterest and saying "that looks amazing, I'd love that too!" so do not worry, you're not alone! But remember what suits one couple, may not suit you. And there are so many styles out there, from relaxed, traditional, romantic, elegant and so on. But you need to choose one that will reflect you as couple and feel like its natural to you.
.
So, I'll tell you straight up, you need to dig deeper than your favourite colours, as chances are you maybe like chalk and cheese in that department! You need to find your similarities, as this is why you fell in love. You may both love a type of music era and love to dance the night away. There maybe key moments in your relationship that you want to celebrate. You may have shared experiences which define your relationship or fond memories that stick in your mind that you could incorporate.
These are the things that will help you find your wedding style.
If you follow these steps it will give you a great foundation to work with, so it can help start to bring a vision of your day to life.
Hobbies/Interests
Make list of all the things you love to do together. Jot down your shared passions, however big or small they are.
Home
What is the home you share together like? What style is the decor? What colours do you like to use? What materials and texture to you buy?
Wardrobe
What kind of clothes do you wear? Are they bold and bright, do you love patterns, or do you prefer more subtle items or statement pieces?
Food
Are you both foodies? Do you love to cook or bake, go out for dinner or prefer a takeaway treat?
Favourites
Think about what your absolutely favourite things to do together are, is it a long walk in the woods, is it a cinema trip, is it date night at home on the sofa with a glass of wine?
Music
What is your tastes in music? You may have a preferred era you share a love for?
Values
What's most important to you? Do you have beliefs that you share? Do you have traditions you would want to include?
Personalities
Describe yourself as a couple, are you quiet and shy, or fun and quirky? If your struggling, ask a friend or family member to describe your relationship in 3 words.
