The inspiration for this tablescape came about from a windy walk I went on with my mum through her village. I wanted to see if any conkers had falling off the horse chestnut trees as I love collecting them, so we headed out for a wild forage. We collected all sorts of goodies that nature offered up to us on the doorstep. It wasn't long before I couldn't wait to get back and start creating a tablescape. I invite you to read how this autumnal look came together, in hope that it inspires you for your autumn gatherings around the table this season.

The Colour Scheme

Autumn is my favourite time of year, so the colours in this season tend to naturally speak to me. I used a warm terracotta, a mixture of green shades such as moss and emerald to provide those deep rich tones that ooze luxury. I added gold to add more warmth, chocolate brown and deep burgundy for interest.

Autumnal Vibes

With the evenings slowly drawing in this time of year, it's perfect for creating those cosy vibes we crave. I wanted a relaxed vibe so I kept the table decor loose and wild using my foraged finds. I also wanted a touch of elegance which I added with glassware, decorative patterned bows and tapered candles.

The Table Decorations

I laid the table with a warm terracotta linen tablecloth which created instant cosiness. I used a mixture of vintage brown and beige stoneware vases and a water jug for the centrepiece, which I filled with eucalyptus, trailing variegated ivy, asparagus fern leaves and dried hydrangeas. I wanted to arrange it all so it was spilling out for a relaxed display on top of a rustic wood slice. Down the centre of the table I scattered oak tree leaves with the acorns still attached and dotted some conkers around to add those all important finishing touches.

The Place Setting

I dressed each place setting with a wicker charger mat, white plates, neatly folded natural linen napkins, gold and white cutlery, a botanical ribbon bow and a stem of feather grass from my own garden.
