Olive green and garden lavender tablescape design

This tablescape design was inspired by a photo I adore in one of my all time favourite books by Selina Lake called 'Garden Style'. The colour palette of olive green, lavender & aged terracotta pots gave me the beginnings of a strong design concept which I could build on. What drew me in, was the olive green colour drench on the walls which made the purple tones really pop off the background. I just knew I had to transform this botanical look into a table setting which would be perfect for garden wedding styles, as well as alfresco dinner parties outdoors.

I was also super keen to show my wedding couples that you only need one photo which sparks your imagination enough to inspire a wedding design, instead of scrolling through endless wedding images, which only makes them feel more confused. It proves that in order to create a wedding aesthetic that looks and feels like your personal style, you need to tap into your own interests to find the best inspiration. Here I have used my passion of gardening to inspire my work, and couples can do the very same with finding an image they love and use that as the inspiration to design their own look.

A bold and beautiful colour scheme created a calm atmosphere

The olive green tablecloth was a bold choice for the base foundation which worked so well with all the soft lavender tones as they really jumped out and caught the eye. I added touches of aged terracotta, earthy brown, beige and warm gold tones and a small pop of white to lift the whole look. This colour scheme was rich, luxurious and earthy and provided a calm vibe that was extremely inviting to spend at relaxing.

Delicate lavender in aged terracotta plant pots

Inspired by the photo and my own garden, the star of the table was to be the lavender which I styled in aged terracotta pots. The subtle smell was a heavenly aroma and would give a sensory experience to guests. Delicate white flowers and dainty purple violas completed the look, keeping things very simple with delicate choices. If you are using this idea for a wedding, you can pop one of my flag style table numbers inside one of your pots, to incorporate them easily into your display. This helps blend your seating plan arrangements in seamlessly so it looks part of the whole look, rather than looking like an last minute add on. You can shop the table number flags here.

Rustic meets vintage decorations

I love a mix and match look when it comes to decor, as it makes the table look more eye catching and interesting. I used my brown and beige stoneware bottles which are full of rustic charm & character, paired with delicate crystal pieces with candle holders, emerald green wine goblets and tea light holders. Sleek gold and white stylish cutlery added an elegance to the setting along with tall dinner candles which added a romantic touch. The balance was just right, creating a warm lived in table to dine at.

Welcoming place settings

Each place setting was styled with a wicker charger mat and a mauve linen napkin which was neatly folded. I placed a brown and gold foil menu card on top which is nice addition to making your guests place feel extra special for them. They can be easily personalised with your own menu details in my shop here. I finished the look with my pre-made botanical bows which you can purchase from my shop. They look great with any nature inspired styling which you can use again and again if you're hosting or they make a nice favour to take home for your wedding guests. You can find them here in my shop. I popped a personalised drink straw in each wine glass so each guest knew where to sit. These are a firm favourite with my customers as they add some fun to your event. You can find these particular ones in my shop here and for other designs available visit this page.
