Lavender Garden Tablescape Design

I was invited to take part in a Women's Wellbeing Event at Bainvalley Cottages in Hemingby, Horncastle, to showcase my table styling service and chat all things hosting to potential guests, who would love to hold a private dinner party in the beautiful setting, to celebrate intimate special occasions with their family & friends. Inspired by the spaces provided by the owner Rebecca and the purpose of the event, I decided to create two tablescape looks to compliment the spaces. This was my first which was set up in the beautiful cottage The Hayloft.

Relaxing lavender colour palette

I chose a soft muted colour palette to create a relaxing atmosphere, choosing a mixture of lilac tones, earthy browns and greenery. It made the space feel calm and thoughtful, perfect for a wellness afternoon where ladies were enjoying mini facials and sipping fizz as they chatted.

Table decorations perfect for a relaxing dining experience

I covered the wooden table with a striped tablecloth and added a brown chiffon table runner down the centre for texture. I added wicker charger mats and a variety of stoneware bottles for an eclectic vintage touch. Crystal candle holders, scalloped plates and vintage tea lights added more texture for an interesting look. I dressed with dusky mauve linen napkins, personalised menu cards and stems of lavender for a finishing touch.

Lavender Floral Centrepiece Arrangement

As with all my floral work, I wanted this arrangement to look like it was growing in the garden, looking as natural as possible in a meadow style. I used lots of lavender, sage and thyme to provide a soft palette, but to also add a calming sensory experience for visitors. I chose delicate pieces such as salvia, wild grasses and delicate green foliage to keep it looking natural, with the addition of some hosta leaves to add interest. I also added some pops of white for a slight contrast which added a romantic look.

Delicate flowers with stoneware bottles

To balance the use of the heavy stoneware bottles I included for character, I added lilac scabious flowers, some flowering, others without, to add that 'picked from the garden' vibe.

Table stationery for personalised dining

I styled each place setting with a stylish menu card, which is made from recycled fleck card, this provides a fantastic texture when guests touch them. Tied with a sage green chiffon ribbon to make them feel like a little present they are to open, personalised with brown guest name tag. They brought the whole thing together and made the table feel complete.

Fun paper drink straws were added to the water tumblers, to show how these little additions really do help those special moments come alive. You can find these 'Let's Toast' straws here in my shop, or you can search for other designs to suit your celebration here. They are a fantastic way to toast your special gathering.
