Blush pink and teal green vintage garden tablescape

I've never really been a huge fan of using the colour pink in my work, I think it's because most of the weddings I've seen using pink, are not to my personal taste at all. They look too girly, as though they are fit for a princess! And that's just not my style. This year though I wanted to challenge myself to find shades and tones of pink that do work with my relaxed botanical style, and I am happy to say that I am really enjoying exploring how to incorporate this colour into my work.

This new love of using pink, is what has inspired this tablescape design today. I wanted to use a blush pink shade with teal green to create something totally different. It even inspired new stationery pieces for the table that worked alongside everything so well. I think this combination would work really nicely for a bridal shower or for a botanical wedding. It's great for anyone who wants an alternative style, mixing modern touches with vintage styling. This design would work beautifully in a garden setting, a rustic barn or inside a magical tipi space.

So to see how I turned all these decorations into a beautiful design, continue to read on.

Blush pink and teal table colour scheme for a botanical style

The challenge for me with this table, was to get the balance right, as I didn't want the pink additions to be the main stars of the show. I used a teal coloured table cloth to give a bold splash of colour to help emphasise the subtle pops of pink shades, but it made sure the green shades dialled them down. I added a teal chiffon table runner adding another layer down the centre for some texture. I also added teal coloured candles for some height. I added a few shades of pink to keep the design interesting, with blush pink stationery, blush hydrangeas and dusty rose pink ribbon bows. I think I got balance just right, as it still feels very much like my kind of vibe.

Vintage table decorations & delicate flowers from the garden

I used an eclectic mix of brown stoneware, recycled green bottles, and old worn books as the centrepiece to provide a vintage style for the tablescape. I filled the unique pieces with a mixture of delicate grasses and fresh greenery. I just love a relaxed look that feels as though it was picked straight from the garden. It was very early spring so only a few things were out in bloom in my garden, but I love mixing fresh and dried elements so I didn't mind that. It just shows you don't need many sprigs in each vessel to make an eye catching display. I designed a flag shaped table number on blush pink card with rose gold foil that stood up on top of the books, I wanted it to match the style of the flags on the drink straws. It feels like a thoughtful part of the design, incorporating it within the centrepiece, instead of looking like an afterthought.

Relaxed place settings with an elegant touch

I wanted each place setting to feel earthy but elegant, so I styled with a wicker charger mat, scalloped plates and rose gold cutlery to tie in with the stationery pieces. The napkins were my favourite addition, adding pattern really doesn't elevate a design, it makes it look more interesting when you get it right. These pretty ones had a combination of all the colours which worked perfectly. I finished with a dusty rose chiffon ribbon bow placed on top of fun drink straws which said 'Cheers to the Newlyweds.' The slim menu with blush pink name tag I created, provided that elegant touch I was going for.
