I love this time of year as it's when I can start really delving into what the new wedding trends for the next year are going to be to inspire couples with fresh ideas.

So if you’re about to start planning your wedding for 2025, this is a fantastic resource to get you started. Planning a wedding is an amazing & fun adventure, but it can also feel like your heading into the thick wedding wilderness un-prepared.

There’s so many ideas out their for you to feast on, but it can be hard to know if what you love is still in fashion? I am going to inspire you with what’s hot right now in the world of weddings. In this blog post I am sharing 11 trends that are paving the way in the industry that couples like you need to know about. From unique venue choices, to alternative decor ideas. My hope is that you leave feeling inspired to create a memorable day that is all about the two of you.

Before we start, let me introduce myself, I'm Rea a wedding stylist and stationery designer. I am a huge plant addict, I love going to the movies & spending my down time outside in my garden & green house. I’ve been in the wedding industry now for nearly 9 years so looking into the trends has become second nature for me. I literally spend ages researching what couples have been loving, what designers & stylists are creating, and then sharing my findings with you, so that you can be inspired by them and confidently know how you can incorporate them into your wedding if you resonate with any of course. There’s nothing I enjoy more than helping couples connect the dots between them and their decor to tell their unique love story. If you would like to find out more about me and how you can work with me on your wedding, you can read this.

Alternative Venues

Couples are looking for a venue that reflects their personal style more than ever. The venue has become much more considered before making a commitment, as this will become the backdrop that sets the scene for the entire day. Couples are wanting to feel a connection so they can tell a story, so when they walk in, they feel immediately that this is for them, they are looking for a setting with the perfect atmosphere that they want to create, providing them with a great starting point.

Outdoor Weddings

Outdoor weddings are becoming increasingly popular among couples, the desire to be surrounded by nature as they are tying the knot has got so much more appealing. This has got couples seeking more usual spaces to tie the knot, such as barns, walled gardens, industrial buildings, woodlands & glass houses where they have options for outdoor & indoor ceremonies in case of bad weather. Having the wedding all in one place also eliminates stress which is what couples are craving, to lighten the load of organising transport for their guests.

Intimate Weddings

Couples are also keeping a close eye on their guest list, long gone are the days when couples invited everyone their family knew. With most modern couples paying for the day themselves, they no longer feel obliged to people please. Having a more intimate wedding with your closest family & friends gives you more freedom to splurge on the other details that dearly matter to you. It also gives you the time to add more meaning & personal touches to your day. Whether this is with personal favours for each guest, a fun additional dress change or Pinterest worthy decorations to create your dream vision.

 Sustainability

Over the last few years couples are definitely being more conscious of the impact their wedding is making on the planet. Taking time with their choices and thinking more carefully before they make a decision. This trend is seen peppered through wedding planning and couples are carefully choosing suppliers that align with their own values. Choosing suppliers who are making the effort to use sustainable methods in their work and are striving to help you make better choices.

Colour Trends

For 2025 and beyond, couples are still embracing the use of colour in their wedding to express their personal style. Which really means anything goes, depending on the vibe you want to create and making sure it compliments the space you are working with. Green is still a favourite among couples as you can apply it to anything. But couples are eager to create a fresh take on leading choices such as sage green, experimenting with pastels tones like lavender, lemon and blush to help add a elegant romantic vibe. And neutral colours like white or brown. Jewel tones will be popular among couples looking for a luxurious look in the autumn/winter season. And vibrant neon colours add a striking contrast to greenery which couples are starting to embrace with the help of neon lights which aren’t going anywhere!

 Colour Of the Year

Pantone are leaders when it comes to colour, and they always release a colour of the year, which highly influences designers to use in their work. This year the colour is called ‘Mocha Mousse.’ Isn’t it just delightful? Like me, I’m noticing couples are already loving this colour in designs, as it’s perfect for nature-lovers who are looking for something understated. It looks fantastic paired with other earthy colours like below. There are some fantastic ideas in my portfolio here if you want to know how to incorporate this trend into your wedding styling.

Pattern

In last years trend round up I predicted we would be seeing alot more pattern being introduced in design choices, which had definitely been the case. Brides are choosing floral bridesmaid dresses over plain, and experimenting with patterned napkins and table cloths to take their styling up a notch. Patterned decorations such as candles and textured glassware are making their way into designs and are a fantastic way to add more interest and individuality with their design elements. It’s a great way to level up your styling even if you only add some to make your key areas stand out, like on your sweetheart table to help make this space extra special for you and stand out.

Showstopping Decor

Couples are really eager to create show stopping decor pieces that show off their main key areas in their space. Ceremony backdrops, sweetheart tables & cake displays are among some of the most popular focal points that couples want to pay attention to. Taking a ‘more is more’ approach to their decor choices. Couples are also loving epic ceiling installations as this adds a level of intimacy in larger spaces. From suspended ladders, hanging disco balls & wicker lampshades there are plenty of ideas to help you add some drama to your space. Other decor that we’ll be seeing more of, being incorporated into couples designs in 2025 are, epic draping installations, mood lighting, twisted candles, patterned table linens and theming your decor around your love story.

Alternative Decor

Couples are seeking alternative decor options to the traditional floral arrangements we have seen since the year dot. While this fits very nicely with the sustainable approach, lots of couples are wanting to choose something different which they feel resonates and aligns with their personal style more. The use of fresh greenery, house plants & dried flowers is on the rise to compliment their nature inspired setting, helping couples create a relaxed and welcoming vibe. The large variety of these alternative choices available allows for lots of creativity suiting a wide range of wedding styles, from minimalist, tropical, bohemian and industrial. So it’s no surprise why couples are drawn to this easy to apply look.

Stationery

Sending invitations in the post are still the most popular way to invite your guests to your wedding. Couples still want to add that personal touch and make a lasting impression, providing their guests with little glimpses into what their day entails with the all important details. Illustrations have become increasingly popular so that couples can tell their love story from the very beginning with their invitations. Line drawings, foil printed and recycled materials are perfect ways to add a sense of what your day is all about. On the day details that are becoming more popular to help your day flow are fabric signage, creative table plans, and fun fresh takes on the guest place cards adding to your guests experience.

Wedding Menus

 Wedding Favours

Couples are taking more time to consider what to gift their guests as the last thing they want is for it to be wasteful. Among some of the favourites choices we are seeing are edible favour’s particularly personalised ones like cookies, mini drink bottles or olive oil. Mini plants to take home or wild flower seeds to sprinkle are also a popular choice among nature lovers. If you really want to go to town unique experiences are on the rise, like wine tasting, cooking classes and spa treatments. Great for smaller, intimate weddings where you can afford to splurge a little as you have less guests to treat.

Cakes

Creative wedding cakes are what couples are desiring. They want a showstopper for that picture perfect moment. It’s not all about the design though, it also has to taste amazing as well, and couples are making their flavours all about them. Choosing unusual combinations for their guests to try something new. According to the 2025 Pinterest trend report we will see popularity growing for the french inspired cake style rococo from the 20's with artistic piping. They are also predicting ‘chaos cakes’ will be on trend to show your fun and silly side, the wackier the better.Which is amazing news for non-traditional couples.
