Choosing stationery to help you style your wedding tables is a really exciting part of decorating your space. I literally get so giddy about it, so if you're obsessed about all the little details like me, I just know you're going to love these ideas that I'm sharing! My aim is for you is to feel really inspired and excited to create the most wonderful tablescapes for your evening reception, so you can be super proud to show them off to your guests. It's your wedding day for goodness sake, so there's no better time to go all out!

You can get really creative with your stationery pieces to make your tables unique. Table stationery can help you tell your love story, it can tie everything together so it feels cohesive, it's a great place to reference your colour scheme, add some fun, make your guests feel welcome and it's also a place you can inject some of your personalities. I bet you didn't realise it could be so powerful?

Selecting stationery for your tables can feel overwhelming though, as I recognise there can be a lot of choice involved meaning many decisions need to be made. It's a rabbit hole of choice when you start looking! So in today's blog post I will be helping you narrow down your options with some simple ideas that work really well with rustic styles, so it helps you make decisions that are right for you and look amazing for your tables that compliment the rest of your decor.

So if you have chosen a rustic style wedding venue to tie the knot, maybe it's a barn, a teepee, a farm, a woodland setting, a serene garden or a country house, I am certain you will love these ideas that I'm serving up.

Firstly it's important to remember that when you choose a rustic style venue, you'll be working with lots of natural elements, such as exposed brickwork, wooden beams, stonewalls and original features from the venues history. Converted barns often have industrial features which can add charm and character. And outdoor spaces like teepees for example, often use lots of nature and earthy tones in their decor choices, with a muted colour for the canvas and wooden trestle tables for that informal banquet style. So whatever you choose needs to work with the space.

These kind of spaces provide you with a totally blank canvas to put your own stamp on, and it gives you strong clues what works really well in the space provided.

If you love the rustic look, chances are you want your space to feel warm and inviting so your guests feel at ease when they sit down to eat your wedding breakfast. Stationery can play a huge role in helping them feel welcome and set a casual vibe for the evening reception. It's a place you can add texture and colour. You can add fun interactive elements and incorporate them into your wedding design so they become part of the decor, rather than a last minute extra.

My table stationery is designed especially for rustic wedding styles and uses botanical illustrations, relaxed fonts and recycled card stock in earthy colours, to help you set the perfect tone. You can find all the pieces I share below in my stationery shop here. Or if you would love something totally unique making, you can of course work with me 1-1 on a bespoke design to tie in perfectly with your theme. You can read more about the bespoke process here.

Right, now let's help you explore your table stationery options to help bring your wedding vision to life;

Rustic Menus

Menus are a lovely addition to a rustic tablescape, they can really finish your place settings off and there a great way to inform guests what they will be tucking into. Feasting menus are very popular with rustic styles as couples love the ideal of sharing platters or a grazing table for a relaxed dining experience. They are a great way to personalise each guests place so that it makes them feel welcome. You can make them personalised with a fun message at the top like 'Let's feast' or 'Let's eat' or even add their name at the top of the card, if they have chosen their meal ahead of the day, it will remind them what they are eating. You can style them on their own laid flat on the napkin or plate for a simple look or tuck them inside a folded napkin. Menus are also a great base to add additional stationery elements like name tags, which you can attach with eyelets, twine or paperclips, giving you lots of styling scope. You can get folded menus, flat menus, slim, square, round, rectangular, pretty much every shape! So when it comes to selecting the perfect menu cards for your tables, it all comes down to how much info you have to give your guests and what fits in with the rest of your design.

'Let's Feast' Fern Leaf Menu Cards

These fern leaf menus are foiled in copper and emerald green making them the perfect choice for a tropical summer theme if you want to create a fun oasis. Or they work really well for an autumn wedding if your colour scheme is rust tones with lots of greenery.

Black and white rustic menu cards

Ideal for feasting menus such as a barbecue style or a hog roast, giving you that fun vibe. It also works well alongside a modern black and green wedding with industrial touches.

Torn Edged Elegant Menus

If you are keen to pair elegance with your rustic theme these menus would be perfect for your tables. The torn edges give a subtle texture and the swirly font provides that romantic vibe.

Brown and white slim menus

The brown and white combination is still very popular for a rustic style wedding. These slim menu cards look lovely paired with neutrals and earthy tones providing a relaxed atmosphere.

Fold out menu cards

You may love the idea of a tri-fold menu card, which enables you to add more details such as the menu, a welcome message and your order of events. It makes a fun interactive stationery piece for your guests to open when they sit down.

Rustic Place Cards

If you are having a table plan for your evening reception you will definitely need place cards so your guests can easily find their seat. A name card acts as a greeting to your guests which will help them feel welcomed, as well as it being a practical piece. It's this kind of stationery that helps your day flow smoothly, so everyone knows where they are meant to be. Place cards come in all different styles from tented so they stand up on their own, to flat place cards which can be positioned neatly next to menus. Or there are alternative options, from different shaped name tags which can be attached easily to napkins, menus, cutlery or favours which give fun styling options. To personalised drink straws which can be popped into a glass or tucked into a folded napkin.

Dried flower name tags

These name tags work really well with a rustic style that wants a touch of elegance. The delicate white star flowers tied with white twine against the brown and white colour combination give a modern look to place settings and work with any colour scheme. I'm a particularly fan of sage green and pastel shades such as lilac.

Botanical folded place cards

These folded name cards are great for couples who want to add a subtle nod to flowers in their stationery to tie in with the rest of their floral theme.

Rustic Table Numbers

A fantastic way to style your table numbers is using table number flags, they can easily become part of your design by popping them into a glass bottle, a bud vase or a clear jar of flowers. The flag design works really well for rustic styles as it's an informal casual look on the tables, but it also suits a festival style wedding or a golf themed wedding really well too.

I am very happy changing the numbers to table names instead as I love it when couples want to personalise their own stationery pieces to make it their own.

Luggage tag style table numbers also work brilliantly for a rustic wedding theme. You can tie them using twine around small jars, stone bud vases or bottles for a subtle look. Or they look amazing styled on bigger jugs like the photo below, if you want larger table centrepieces. This will also help your guests see them more easily when trying to find their designated table.

Alternatively you can use table numbers card which can be folded to stand up on their own or use flat cards that can be styled in a frame or inserted in a table number stand.

These pine tree table number cards below with a gold foil design are perfect for a woodland wedding. I have popped them a in a log slice, so they stand up which works perfectly with a forest wedding theme.

Rustic Napkin Wraps

Paper napkin wraps are a fun wedding table accessory that not many couples think about using. But I am all about providing couples with alternative stationery pieces, that provide you with fun styling options, so you can get more creative with your tablescapes. Napkin wraps can look really stylish on each of your place settings and they work really well for relaxed rustic vibes. If you're looking for something different to the popular knotted cheesecloth napkins which are perfect for rustic styles, then linen napkins are also a winning choice with a rustic theme. They can look lovely neatly folded on top of wicker chargers, and you can be really playful by adding different elements. They can be used to add a subtle pattern element to your tables or add some personalisation, with a thank you or welcome message, or you can add your guests names to them, either on the wrap itself or with additional name tags and twine. Napkin wraps also give you a chance to get creative with your table cutlery and you can lay dried flowers underneath, giving you a unique look. They are one of my favourite table additions to play with for hosting any type of celebration.

Rustic Straw Flags

A fun alternative to a standard place card for your guest to find their seat is a personalised drink straw. Now these have been my best seller since I started my stationery shop back in 2016, and they are still going strong! I think it's because they are something a little bit different, an interactive element guests love to use and perfect for creating that casual rustic vibe. I mean, who doesn't want a paper straw with their name on it anyway? You can have a lot of fun styling these, from popping them into your glassware, to laying them on top of or inside a folded napkin. Guests will love them and they can use them to identify which drink is there's all through your evening reception. I have a few choices that work particularly well with rustic wedding themes, whether it's an industrial look, a botanical style or a chilled garden gathering. I have many colour choices for straws including fun patterns which makes matching your theme and colours super easy.

Wedding Favour Tags

Including wedding favours on your tables for each guest to take home, is a really thoughtful idea and a lovely addition to each place setting. You can either style them with guest name tags combining their place with your gift. Or you can add a thank you note for celebrating with you. You can play will the placement depending on what they are and what other stationery you have included. If it's a mini plant you may have room on the plate, on top of a napkin, or if you already have menus and place cards on the plates, you can put it in front of the crockery.
