How to make your wedding day look & feel more personal
•Posted on October 29 2025
I truly believe that the more personal touches you can incorporate throughout your wedding aesthetics, the more memorable your wedding day will be. Adding personal touches into your design really will create a lasting impression on your guests. It will also make you feel even more excited about your wedding day, because connecting your decor to yourselves helps tell your guests your love story & showcases your personalities to them, shares snippets of your relationship and what's really important to you both.
I understand that a lot of couples find it really hard knowing what personal touches to include in their decor. Sometimes you're just too close to yourselves, which makes it really difficult to see what to include.
In today's blog post I'm going to share some of my favourite ways that I have helped couples add in their own personal touches to help make their day more special & memorable. I hope it inspire you to add your own personal touches that will help you tell your own story.
Design a special table plan
A wedding table plan is a fantastic opportunity to put your personal touches into your decor. From naming your table titles after meaningful things to you, such as places you've visited together, or favourite films you both love to watch.
To how you're actually going to display your seating chart, so that it feels personalised. It's a fantastic way to tell your love story to your guests with the design concept. When couples connect their table plan with a personal touch, guests will remember it more because you've made it unique to you. It invites a curiosity which makes guests remember it more.
I just love helping couples design their table plan, for me it's all about getting to know each couple and helping them make this a special decor piece that is thoughtful and has meaning behind it.
Some of my favourite table plans that I've had the pleasure of designing for couples, include personalising a table plan with the couples love of food & for one couple, basing the seating chart around their proposal which happened abroad. Honestly it brings me so much joy transforming this mundane necessity into a personalised moment for guests to find their seat. If you would love to have some help designing your table plan you can read more about this creative service I offer here. Or alternatively if you want to come up with your own, I sell individual table plan cards here to help with your display.

Table Names
Seeing as I've just mentioned naming your wedding tables with a personalised touch, let's chat about it a bit more. I have spoke to lots of couples who don't know what to name their tables, so they end up just leaving them as table numbers. Which is fine, but it's not going to be memorable is it? Naming your tables with something meaningful to you both is a fantastic way to add in personal touches. It could tie in with you're theme, for example, if you're getting married in the autumn and you both love walking, you could name your tables different trees. Or maybe you're having a Christmas wedding, you could name your tables after Christmas movies, or your favourite chocolates. There are so many things you could name them, but if you're really struggling to come up with something, I have a list of amazing ideas in this blog post for you.
I customised these table number flags that I sell in my shop with places the couple had visited whilst dating.

Personalised Details
A fantastic way to add a personal touch into your wedding is to include your personalised details. This could mean adding your names & wedding date to signage, it could be a personalised quote with something you say, your initials maybe or a custom logo you've had designed for your wedding. You can pepper this through your design from the menu cards, any signage you display, on your wedding favours, right through to your table napkins. You don't have to pop it on everything but by adding a personal touch it will make your day feel extra special and possibly create keepsakes for the guests to take home.

Personalise your decorations
The only way you can make your wedding decorations feel more personal to the both of you, is to connect your choices to your love story, your personalities & your personal style. Connecting your personal interests such as the hobbies you have and colours you're drawn to, will give your decor a personalised touch. It helps to know what you want the vibe to be, so that you choose decor that reflects this. For example, if you're a laid back couple that wants a relaxed dining experience for your guests, make sure the table decorations you chose represent this. I help couples connect their decor to who they are and what they want their wedding to be all about, inside my wedding tablescape packages. You can check out this bespoke service I offer here.

Signature Drinks
A fun way to add a personal touch is with choosing signature drinks for your thirsty guests to try. You could pop a sign up at your bar, with your favourite cocktails or mocktails for the bar staff to serve up to your eager guests. If that's not you're thing, what about a coffee bar with your favourite flavours for guests to try. This is a great way to add a personal touch into your wedding, as it really clues the guests into what you both love and guests love trying something new that you both recommend is tasty.

Wedding Favours
If you're gifting wedding favours to your guests, then there's a great opportunity here to include a personal touch. Personally I love homemade wedding favours, because the time to put into making it for guests is what makes it feel so personal. For example if someone has gone to the trouble of making jars of jam before the wedding day, that feels really thoughtful & adds such a personal touch. You literally can't beat it! When it comes to wedding favours my rules are simple, make it edible or gift something useful. Here's some ideas to get you thinking. You could gift a packet of seeds because you're both keen gardeners and you care about the environment, you could both be avid readers and gift a personalised book mark to each guests to use, and it also acts as a place setting. I hope this inspires you to give your wedding favours a personal touch.
