•Posted on January 04 2019
Firstly huge congrats on getting engaged, such an exciting , wonderful time together celebrating with family and friends. But often, for some, it may feel overwhelming as they may not know what to do next, so here are some top essentials to tick off your list.
Tell your Loved Ones
These days it may be tempting to post the happy news on social media announcing to the whole world that you have got engaged, but I'd strongly advise you to resist, at least until you have told the good news to your nearest and dearest. They will much prefer to hear it from you in person with all the juicy details.
Get a manicure
You are going to want to show off your ring to everyone, so make sure your nails have had some TLC. As long as they are clean and well shaped and no chipped nail polish they will be spotlight ready.
Celebrate
Round up your close family and best friends to go out for some celebratory drinks so you can mark the occasion and lavish in the romantic tale. Or have a date night just you two if that's more your style. You may want to go the whole hog and have an engagement party, plan one yourselves or your besties may want to surprise you. It's a big deal so celebrate it while your in the moment.
Share it on Social Media
When you are ready to share that you are engaged with the world, (after you have informed your close family and friends of course!) post a 'ring selfie' or a sweet photo of you and your fiancé to share the love with your friends and followers.
Book an Engagement Shoot
This is such happy time for the both of you, so it is nice to record it to look back on. Which makes booking a photographer a well worthy investment. Why not use the photos taken to help announce your engagement or to use on your Save the Date cards.

Get your Ring Sized
If the ring fits you, that's great, if not, you'll want to take a trip to your jewellery store to get it resized and get the perfect fit. You don't want to be forever fiddling with it and fear of losing it, if it's too loose.
Get your Ring Insured
Not the most romantic thing on the list but it could turn out to be a wise decision later on!
Take a breather
You don't have to start wedding planning straight away. Take some time to let this news sink in and enjoy this time in your life. As after this, you will be all go with planning the wedding day.
Start Pinning
You may have started pinning already on Pinterest (who hasn't!) but if not, this is the fun part where you can start to gather ideas and getting excited about your dream day.
Start Researching
Before you plan anything, pin away, start to gather information, read wedding blogs, search for your inspiration, anything that that will help you stay focused, organised and sane through the wedding planning process. There's nothing like preparing yourself for the journey you are about to embark on together.
