Real Wedding Jessica & Aaron, Escrick, York

Rea Shaw aaron and jessica august 2018 real wedding summer wedding

Another beautiful Real Wedding on the blog for you to indulge in, Jessica & Aaron's special day was held during the incredible summer we had in the UK this year. I hope you enjoy reading this romantic, elegant and sophisticated wedding day as much as I did.
Tell us about your wedding day?
Aaron and I got married at St Helen’s church in Escrick, not far from York (North Yorkshire) on the 4th August 2018. It is a beautiful church with large windows and a bright interior. To add a special touch to the service, we asked our old headmaster from secondary school to marry us, to which he kindly obliged.
We had our reception at The Parsonage Hotel afterwards which is situated on the same grounds as St Helen’s church. This was perfect for us as everything was in one place and our guests didn’t have to travel far. We found our reception to be perfect for our wedding day. The gardens are beautiful and the reception room was large enough to comfortably fit 104 guests. On the evening, we had around 180 people and there was plenty of room for everybody. The weather was absolutely glorious so the gardens and conservatory were used as well as the main reception room.
How did you choose your wedding colours and style?
We chose a gold and white colour theme because we wanted to keep everything classy and elegant. Also, we didn’t want to clash with the red/gold curtains they have at The Parsonage Hotel so we thought this colour scheme would complement the room perfectly!
The bridesmaids were in champagne gold and the flower girls were in ivory. The groomsmen were dressed in royal blue suits with matching champagne coloured ties.
We chose ivory and champagne flowers for the bouquets and wedding flowers which were also used in some of the center piece arrangements in the reception room too.
In the reception room, we had a mixture of round and oval tables. The round tables had wisteria trees with hanging tea-light baubles and the oval tables had gold candelabras, candles and vases with flowers.
On the top table, we had flowers arranged across the front with candles and vases along the top.

We loved our stationary – thank you Confetti Sweethearts! We had matching stationary throughout starting with our wedding invites which were in the ‘confetti’ design. On the day, we had the same ‘confetti’ design for our table names (which were our favourite countries), place names, favours and order of service sheets. Many of our guest commented on the quality of the stationary as everything looked so elegant and classy!
Our wedding cake was made by ‘Blossom Tree Cake Company’ and it was delicious! We had white chocolate a passion fruit, fruit cake and chocolate orange. The design of the cake was stunning – can you believe the flowers were made from icing!?

As well as the cosmetic details, we also surprised our guests with entertainment. We had an Italian ice-cream tricycle in the day which kept the children happy as it was so so hot! During the meal, in between the courses, we had a magician wandering around the tables who provided great entertainment for everyone! On the evening, we had a band ‘The Funtime Frankies’, they were amazing and kept the dancefloor full all night long!
Where did you look for inspiration?
For wedding inspiration, we used Pinterest and wedding magazines and once we had our chosen colour scheme we created a scrap book of things we both wanted/liked. We then found a local wedding stylist (Ambience Wedding Styling) at a local wedding fair and she understood what we
wanted completely. We worked together and created our perfect wedding reception room!
What part of the planning did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed scrap booking ideas and meeting with professionals who gave me great inspiration. I am already missing the planning – I don’t know what to do with myself now!
Do you have any tips or advice to give to other couples?
1) Being prepared is the key to a stress free wedding. The lead up to the wedding and the wedding day went so smoothly for us because we organised things in advance. This made the experience so much more enjoyable.
2) Try to take as much in as you can! It really does go so quick and you will wish you can do it all over again.
Final note...
I think you'll all agree Jessica & Aaron's wedding day looked classy and elegant just like they wanted. With the sun shining beautifully for all their guests to enjoy.
Wishing them all the best for the future as Mr & Mrs, and a big thank you to them for sharing their story with us.
